BIO
Rebecca Gorek has been a public school teacher for twelve years, the last nine of which have been in the Cleveland Municipal School District. A native Clevelander, she received her B.A. in Elementary Education from John Carroll University and her Masters in Library and Information Science from Kent State University. She is currently her school’s librarian and webmaster. She is also a writing coach for America SCORES, which provides inner-city children with the opportunity to learn soccer and practice their writing skills through a free after-school program. She serves on her school’s leadership team and represents the teachers in her school as an elected member of her local Union Conference Committee. Throughout her career, she has been selected as a NASA Education Workshop participant, America SCORES poetry workshop participant, and Cleveland Teachers Academy study group member.
Fast Facts
Rebecca lives in Cleveland with her husband, greyhound, several cats, and pet snake. She is an enthusiastic traveler and enjoys scuba diving, white-water rafting, and reading.
